Suggestive way to join PVC to copper pipe  by Shero
The development of modern industry has done great favors for improving our daily life. The employment of the pipes and valves has greatly brought in great convenience. For example, the water faucets indoor or outdoor have supplied us with water conveniently. Generally speaking, the copper pipes are common in many houses. And with the wide use of PVC material, PVC pipes seem to be more popular. But the task for thorough replacement is difficult and unwise. People can just connect new PVC water lines to the existing copper ones. In order to perform this task, it is important to do by following a correct and practical suggestion.
To do this job, we need to do some preparations. The tools should be ready. They are the brass male threaded connector, female PVC threaded connector, Emory cloth, wire pipe brush, soldering flux, solder, propane torch, PVC cleaning solvent, PVC cement, Teflon tape and pipe wrenches. Once all are ready, let’s begin.
Firstly, there are lots of things that should be done to the copper fitting. At fist, use the Emory cloth to shine up the area which is used to perform the joint. Then, use a wire pipe brush to shine up the female end of the brass threaded connector. And the end of the copper pipe and the inside of the brass male threaded connector should be also shined-up by using a thin layer of soldering flux. Such can make the following process smooth.
Secondly, push the brass connector onto the end of the pipe. Use the propane torch to heat it so as that the joint can be tightly connected using the solder around the pipe and the fitting. Wait until it cools down.
Thirdly, it is actual step to add the PVC water line. Apply 5 wraps of Teflon tape around the male threads of the brass connector. Then, use the wrenched to screw the threaded female end of the PVC connector onto the brass connector. Ensure that it is totally fitted. Afterwards, we should do some preparing job to insert the required PVC pipe. We must clean every end of the connector in case of further leakage. Sometimes, the PVC glue can do help if necessary.
At last, insert the PVC pipe into the PVC fitting after allowing the cleaning solvent to evaporate. Move the pipe in a twisting motion so as to avoid damages to attaching fitting. Keep pushing until you feel the pipe bottom out inside the fitting and hold this moment for a while. Such would totally do favors to ensure a tight connection. At this time, you have done the whole task with a success.
